It logs timber from its sustainable, managed forest resources relying on FastGrowingTree Plantation (FGTP) technique and plants a tree in replacement to conserve the forest resources.Although started as a privately-owned company, Portal is committed to conserve the natural resources and improve the standard of living of its communities. For its long-termsustainability, the company plans to expand its business in soap and candlesmanufacturing and develop planned ecotourism. The company plans to take up large-scale tree plantation in the coming years, but in order to convince farmers to stop cutting the trees, it still has to prove that this plantation can provide enough income. Even as Portal is yet to breakeven, the viability of its green business is under scrutiny. |
